Altiris SVS is a free tool for software virtualization. You "capture" application installs into a layer, then you can use the SVS Admin to deactivate, reactivate, reset, or delete the layer. If you deactivate the layer, all traces of it are removed from your system. It's a very nice piece of software, especially for free!
I've been looking for something like this for years. Thanks!

Cool! If your interested, there is a very nice community where you can get tools and find articles on SVS. Altiris Juice

The Goods: Tasty, tasty food.
The Catch: Some of the links are dead. In the late 90s you used to be able to get miniature bags of Jelly Belly candy for free, and this website agrees with me, but the information is nowhere to be found on the linked site. Might take a bit of scrounging to find the tastiest vittles.
Power Tab

The Goods: A free midi creator. Print, listen to, and play along with your music.
The Catch: Tabs can get kinda sloppy.

Line Rider
The Goods: What's better than designing a track so the linerider can fall to his doom?
The Catch: Get's boring after a while

Lmao, this is THE best flash game I've ever played!
Game Developer Magazine

The Goods: A nifty little magazine in print.
The Catch: Must be involved with the game industry (i.e. student, programmer, etc).

(Hope no one has posted this yet)

In response to the Microsoft Virtual PC

Software:VMWare - Free virtual machine software
Pros: Excellent Machine Emulation Software
Cons: I believe you need to register, but its pretty harmless.

Tends to be a lot more compatible with various host OSes than Microsoft's Virtual PC, plus will run under Windows and Linux.

From the creators of BugMeNot.com and the oh-so-handy Firefox extension, get coupon codes for tons of stuff online. Works in the same fashion as BugMeNot.com; people submit coupon codes, and they are rated by percent success. Not explicitly "free stuff," but I thought the people reading this thread would be interested as well.
when you do something right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.
