Another day, another hat.

This morning I started work on the instructions pop-up menu that explains how to play the game. Up to this point I haven't really thought about how to play since I've known how to play all along :). It's interesting having to explain things that just seem natural to you. The good news is that the game mechanics of my card game are really simple. The only thing out of the norm from most casual games is that you need to use both mouse buttons. The left is used for selecting cards to add to your hand. The right is used to bank, or in blackjack terms "Stand" when you have a high total but can't get 21 with any of the visible cards. It's going to be interesting to see if the two button approach confuses people.

The other half of the instructions is explaining the scoring system. This is at least straight forward as I've had this defined in a spec since before I started coding. The trouble is trying to keep it from being a dry chart of numbers.

Writer and artist are my titles today. Tomorrow chief bottle washer.
