Wow!

I'll be following your progress, haven't used Game Maker Studio in ages and I'm told it has grown very powerful.

Can't wait to see what you can cook up with it!

GameMaker is an unexpected tool!

It was the tool of choice in a community that I used to frequent, so while I don't think that I've used it myself (or at most very briefly), I have seen some of the output that it can produce--or could then; it can be an effective tool, as I recall. If Orymus is correct that it has grown further, then it might be interesting to see somewhat of its current capability.

One way or another, good luck. ^_^

Thank you guys :).

I will be using Game Maker Studio. Game Maker Studio has grown a large amount from previous versions.

I will be making full use of GML and Pixel Shaders.

My choice for using Game Maker comes down to it is a high productivity tool for a short time frame. When you have a short deadline you need to use tools that allow you to achieve results quickly without having to "reinvent the wheel" to get a game done.

Even with knowing a variety of programming languages including C++ and Python, I still feel that Game Maker is a good choice for a small scale 2D game produced rapidly :).

If I had more experience with GameMaker, I may have gone that route myself. I had a very simple fishing game working in the first week or two of messing around with it. At the time, I found the tool frustrating to use and I had a difficult time coming up with clean/organized code, so I stuck with XNA/C# because I have this hobby for fun. :)

If I didn't have some simple engine logic and a gui control library coded up over the last few months, I probably would have chosen GameMaker myself. Even though it was frustrating sometimes, I produced that simple little fishing game lightning fast.

Good luck. I'll see you on the field of battle!
