To the guy who posted about a court intrigue game, I seriously wrote up some ideas on that a while ago . It was something in the vein of an adventure game, where the goal was basically to depose the current, "bad" monarch and install yourself as the new head of state and then keep your head. You''d start out as a somewhat (but not *too*) minor noble, gain the esteem of your peers, and then instigate the plot to off the king. Then you become king, and have to counter plots on your head, keep out of war, etc. I think it''d be pretty sweet !

Hey, cool! (Was me, btw)

I actually conceived of this as an unconventional strategy game that would be different each time you play. I''d like to see something like it done with a Civ type game, so that you could get into some real Arthurian legend type stuff (sans goblins and dragons, if you know what I mean).

BTW, the movie Elizabeth, about the rise of the Virgin Queen of England, is filled with this kind of stuff if you want inspiration.

Shopping spree !

Dude, this game would be so protested, but I love it!!!

quote:
You are an avid shopper sent on various missions to collect goods in supermarkets all over the world.

Hey, would you include the Naked Shopping spree mode, like I heard about in Belgum. People were lining up, in the cold, butt naked, for a chance at TVs and expensive furniture. Whatever they could carry... (Yup, them Europeans are strange... *ahem* uh, present company excepted, of course )

quote:
You can equip with a wide range of equipement, will you go with roller skates, will you simply run, will you use a hand bag, a trolley, or a basket ?
Teamplay is also important, assign different objectives to your teammates and be the first team to come back to your vehicle. Of course, you''ll have to find your car first, not to mention pass the endless queues.
mmm, etc, etc.

You know, funny enough, I could see this being popular among the casual market. But they''d probably need a gameshow tie in to make it work.

quote:
There is a lot to be done here as well. I actually believe this would do a cool game. And for once, the gender will actually HAVE an impact on the game : Women have an innate sense of good pricing. When shopping, they will spot the best prices. They also have an enhanced vision and hearing to spot sales and special offers
Men are stronger, and can eventually push their way through traffic jam, they are also taller and can reach the highest placed items... women get slowed down in beauty and cloths areas, while men get slowed down in the computers and HI FI departments

LOL!!!!

Great idea!

~~~~~~~~~ Patch Man!!!
- The object of this game is to get it to work. Patches available on publisher''s site, changed weekly and guaranteed never to download at more than 100 bits/sec. Is it your video? Your audio? Your modem? Your OS? Your processor? Your mem address system? Your ISP? The fun never ends with Patch-Man!!! Of course, all the "features" won''t work on anything but the latest, most expensive machinery: the more primitive your machine is, the less patches you''ll need, so if you want to cheat and see the stunning final sequence in beautiful monochrome mode 11 you''ll have to fire up the old Radio Shack TRS-80 33Mhz/64K ram. - Lubb
RPD=Role-Playing-Dialogue. It's not a game,it never was. Deal with it.
Great ideas guys ...
Heres one of mine. What if you where in charge of a jail ? You have to build all the cells and exercise yards etc. to keep the prisoners happy or they would riot. If you keep them too well fed clothed etc. then the beurocrats (im no good at spelling) would come after your ass.
You would have to provide armour weapons (capsicum spray, assualt rifles, batons) etc to your security guards. They would have to stop rioting prisoners. You could pay bribes to your bosses if some prisoners escaped
Gradually you would have to build up your facilities, sim city style, until you had this huge sprawling complex with executions every half hour, escapes galore, etc
Let me know if you think this is a good idea. And keep the other ideas coming ...
Inspired by Dilbert and BadTech.
You are an itermediate level programmer in a large software development company. The company has a fast internet connection and provides good coffee.
But there is a dark side. Management nearly outnumbers the staff and each and every manager feels you should do more to earn your pay than just show up. Your mission is to avoid meetings and project deadlines while successfully downloading X megs of porn a day.
You will use guile to avoid your bosses and form relationships with co-workers to help you get out of work. If management figures you out you will fired. If you cannot avoid management you will be forced to work overtime, weekends and attend meeting after meeting until you finally go insane and are committed to an asylum.
If your are successful at slacking off and downloading porn you can retire at 55 with a company pension.
Whoever thought being lazy would require so much work.
Setting is an emtpy library. No librarians or patrons. There are suggestions that the librar4y has been abandoned.
Player is a small automaton (golem) made to help maintain things. Player is roughly the size of a book (8") so there''s plenty of LCroftian style climbing and jumping.
Player spends time fighting off silverfish and rats, dusting and sorting books, redoing bindings, maybe even patching holes in the roof when it rains.
At the higher levels, the library is ''invaded'' by a few normal sized people. They promptly disorganize some books (browsing) and the player must fight off this force of chaos and reshelve the books properly.
