So they just don't like the number 9 or something?

Interesting that almost all of the features they showed are basically a return to a more traditional desktop. And they've implemented multiple desktops.... a feature that the Amiga had 20 years ago. It's not that these are bad things, just not exactly earth shattering.

Hopefully this is a return to a more sensible direction for windows. MS needs to realise that Windows is not, has never been and will never be "cool" in the way that Apple or Android can be, but that they're simply the best enterprise/productivity OS and that's not a bad thing.

When I first read it I thought I was ready an Onion article or something lol. I really dislike this decision

Should have called it "Windows One".

Stay gold, Pony Boy.

Calling it Windows 9 would just make it lesser than OS X. They should have turned it up to 11!

My only guess is that they want to avoid search engines autocompleting "Windows 9" to "Windows 95" or "Windows 98".

Well this certainly makes the old "even numbered ones are crap" guideline become interesting...

Oh, and: http://www.infoworld.com/article/2613504/microsoft-windows/microsoft-skips--too-good--windows-9--jumps-to-windows-10.html

Direct3D has need of instancing, but we do not. We have plenty of glVertexAttrib calls.

They have obviously switched to binary. Windows 10 is in fact... Windows 2
