Here are your Journal Land entries from the period of 1/25 - 2/1

Project Updates

  • DMD 'Ware - polyfrag's iOS app was rejected for encouraging "reckless activity" (uhm, ok) but he's forging on with Pathogen and has a new video and image of the first story map
  • Modern Roguelike - Navall set up his project on Github last week and now the source is all up to date for anyone that wants to have a look
  • Aurioch's Journal - Aurioch has a detailed update and new images on the progress of his XNA remake of the NES game Battle City
  • Wilhelm's Journal - Wilhelm van Huyssteen has a new video and images showing off the armour system in his RPG Legends of Strife
  • Journal of Mak - Mak has increased the texture size of Dominion's planets from 2048x1024 to 4096x2048 and has a lovely Earth render to show off featuring the updated textures
  • Beals Software logo+%20bullet.png- Programmer16 mentions his foray into Android development with Mono and shows off the results of his scramble to get a game built for the 1 Game a Month challenge, download link included
  • RuinValor - Birth of Talos - riuthamus has the (semi)final version of the RuinValor intro video posted, along with an image of WIP grass texturing
  • OddGames development journal - O-san details the key ring concept for Medieval Story's player inventory and also has some new screens of the updated rendering code splashing water about
  • Merry Prankster Games - gdunbar has some gameplay notes now that he can play 10FF all the way through on the iPad, although he still has to retool the UI for touch rather than mouse
  • Archer Alec Devlog - HabitueGames updates on Archer Alec, the Kickstarter that's now underway, and the work he's doing to market it to success, since he's found projects with lack of marketing have mostly failed
  • IfThen Software LLC - InvisibleMan has been spending these past few days constantly updating the pre-alpha version of his team's latest project Areum, a "2D top-down MMORPG in a medieval fantasy setting". The current build is v0.0.0.250 but that could have changed already!

Game Dev Stuffs

  • New Old Things - Endurion adds another portal in the latest step towards making a Commodore 64 game, although he hints that a bigger step is in the works
  • Think Small - BSVino has started a new YouTube video series called "Math for Game Developers" and plans to work towards a math toolkit for solving any game dev problem. New video each week!
  • Leadwerks Dev Blog - Josh Klint gives a couple of examples of the unit test code he's been writing to test every command in the Leadwerks 3 engine, such as getting a reading from the device accelerometer, creating a texture from scratch and some physics modeling
  • Milcho's Journal - Milcho has trouble with pointers that seem to be mysteriously deleted. He goes over the scenario and shares the solution for anyone else that might get caught unawares
  • /* Why you crying? */ - JTippetts goes over his use of a variant of cellular noise to create mountains for use in Goblinson Crusoe
  • Severin's Journal - Severin shares some stats on sales of Ruins from the Chrome Web Store and GameJolt
  • Project Veritas - Working title logo+%20bullet.png- Stormynature may think that a writer is more important than a programmer on a team but does admit that not all games require a good story to enhance the experience
  • The Bag of Holding - ApochPiQ finally squished a bug that's been... uhm, bugging him (I couldn't resist!) for quite a while and poses the problem, which involves concurrent systems, for anyone who thinks they can see the mistake he made, which he says is "bloody obvious" in hindsight. Solution to come later
