Hey wasup, im new here been looking around for a forum where the last post wasn't from 2004...:( I have for the past 5 years been writing my ideas and facts about a great mmorpg. I have 200-300 pages on ideas and storyline for the game I am interested in. I have learned c++ for my language but im still learning new things. I am interested in finding some more ideas, storylines, anything that will help me get on the road. I haven't decided where to save things either, database? or files? pros - cons? The game im creating is a mix between, darkeden, rs2, guild wars,WoW, aoe, and adventure quest. The game so far with my basic math is going to have over 100,000 different weps, 1,000 sets of armor, (i have been told to name my armor and weps that might take a while and people dont want to see tht, plus i dont got a quarter of the names down just wep 1 sword A bow 3 staff D thats all so far on many of them until i really need names) this games map is split up like gw and its massive. Im looking for ideas on monsters, wepons names, item names, items and so on. Whoever contributes when the game airs you will be on the home page with lots of thanks from me and many others. This game i want to be able to support over 10,000-50,000 people around the world. I need to find a cheap and very efficient way to lower my bandwith and get several servers that can sustain thousands of players each. Yes i know this game seems impossible but i got people that have over 30-50 years experience in my control. So im looking for names and designs for anything.(monsters weps, towns significant characters, so on..) ALSO i am stuck on the type of characters, like priest warrior ranger and so on, im looking for names for new type of species to be used with different abilitie.(maybe a crossbreed a hybrid and so on). Im also looking for terrain info, where should part of the map be located,(so far the one created is all land) what kind of skills should the game have. and stuff like that. So any ideas and helpful facts i might need to know i would be grateful for all your help and tidbits of information. (and by the way the game is most difiantly 3d) And also im looking for website design ideas for the website im soon going to create for it.(ie, forum ideas what all beabout just things like that since im kinda new at mmorpg making and the ways to get people to help and notice it). Also does anyone know any good graphic libraries? Im also about to buy a computer, anyone got and ideas on what is better then other and what should be upgraded and so on...got 2500$ Thanks, P.S. Im 16 lol yes i know if u rea up top it says ten years of getting ideas, that is true, ever since i have been ten started prgramming and writing my ideas down. So i know 5 years of c++ isnt much but im trying. And it's true i do got a couple people with maximum experience. CooleoBen, very few people can pull off a multiplayer RPG. I only know of two that where made by members here. Note that I didn't say "MMORPG", the first M is basically impossible for most people, I would suggest you scale it down and create a multiplayer RPG that can support 64+ players first.

Yes i understand that. I have created 2d type rpg games but they were boring and had no fun. The three people i am working with have helped create mmorpgs in the past when they were relativetly (lol spelledd so wrong)new. I have researched mmorpgs and have gotten some things down. But i totaly agree with you. mmorpgs are hard to create and will take lots of time. Its not like this game i have started to create is going to pop in two even three or four years, all im saying is im starting low with persumably a 3d chat, moving up to combat, then towns then everything else.

Im not saying its going to be a stroll in the park and at the end im going to get candy this thing is going to be a almost impossible effort on my part.

Well at least you're realistic about it. Still I would hold off on a help wanted post until you at least have a demo, nobody will join a project that is still in the design phase.

In the OP you ask for more ideas, perhaps you should make a post in the Game Design forum instead. Add more detail though(more than "1000+ weapon ideas").

Also be aware that you're likely get more of the "start small" responses as long as you use the term "MMORPG". It's just that this forum(especially Help Wanted) is plagued by newbies that want to recreate WoW over night.

I wish you could create WoW over night i would be rich lol but also their would be tons of mmorpgs everywhere so the business would drop if noobs got to involved. But without noobs where is the new generation? its on one big circle that we all hate at one point but love at another. The philosephy is now mine lol. i should copyrite it. but whatever i got to go i shall check this tomorrow and so on....peace out

Going to school, learning to develop software, getting internships at game companies, paying their dues and working their way up... just like every other career.

Honestly thought that too, entirely too much in this post seems too conveniently geared toward the stereotypical "mmo newbie" post, to put it nicely. Then everyone started taking it seriously....
