See those saws (and despair)

As the title indicates, I've added the sawblades. I've decided to put the example in a video. I don't know if that's a good idea, but the default settings for gif capture clearly weren't working, so.

I've removed the fire tiles for now, which kind of negates the bumpiness entirely, that I've fretted over so. On the other hand, it makes it clearer that going without normal maps is quite a feasible option.

I hate the textures on the sawblades, and the transport mechanism especially, by the way. I was trying to make them muddy, which I've achieved (although not necessarily in the way I wanted). But I don't think the results of my efforts will be appreciable, no matter which angle and perspective I select. And I also realised too late that some of the details would be better modeled rather than painted, which has to do with the fact that I hadn't actually planned for the trasport mechanism and had no concept image for it... At least that's my excuse. Anyway, making a note of it.

The sawblades meet with my son's approval, and he can be a pretty picky critic sometimes. Kid knows his sawblades pretty well.

This is really freaking awesome, tell the overly critical artist inside you to just calm down, you are far more capable than he wants you to believe. :D

I used to struggle with my artistic side like it seems you do, then I started actually researching what art is and how other people(cultures) treat artistic concepts.  Then I discovered the Japanese concept of "wabi-sabi" https://www.utne.com/mind-and-body/wabi-sabi in short, it's about celebrating/encouraging the natural imperfections in the world and in art itself.  I think it's a concept that all struggling artist can benefit from studying, or at least being exposed to.  It's nice to know that not all of the world is interested in perfection, and for some who truly appreciate art, perfection is out of place. ;)

Keep it up!!

Oh, shucks! Thanks, everyone!

It's just that I keep watching videos by professional artists, and while I learn things... well, when even they are critical of their very polished pieces, it's like "What am I even doing here?"

On the other hand, I know that given enough time apart I'll be able to appreciate my efforts better. Unfortunately, I don't exactly have the luxury of time right now. So I have to rely on you.
